THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF QUARTZ CRYSTAL
Our understanding of crystals owes a lot to research on Quartz Crystal in particular. In 1669, Danish scientist Nicolas Steno noticed that all Quartz Crystals have the same angular structure. French crystallographer René Haüy further observed that Quartz’s shapes and angles obey the same rules and have the same properties. Today we know that the structure and shape of crystals are the result of the elegant lattices of their atomic arrangements.
The molecules of crystals are organized in a lattice structure, a pattern that affects their qualities and their ability to absorb and amplify Life-Force Energy. Minerals are composed of different natural compounds, and the difference in their molecular lattices creates unique intrinsic energy patterns in each type of crystal. In the case of Quartz Crystal, when it is squeezed, it generates an electric current. The ions on its surface move out of position, causing the charge balance to change. The crystal behaves like a battery, with oppositely charged faces, vibrating on a molecular level. This phenomenon is known as the piezoelectric effect, which is widely used in Quartz watches.
